The First Step

It was an amazing feeling to finally be able to materialize the project. It is true indeed that angan angan itu indah and once it became a reality, it's euphoric! The project's site is in Tambunan district as I mention in my previous post and it is located in a village deep in a jungle with lots of greenery, flowers, paddy field and a river which we all jump and soak in by the end of the day.

The first step is to create a trap or a gelodok. This will allow the wanted bees to create it's first pioneer colony. Almost like magic, and also depends on the populations of bees surrounding the area, the trap will get it's first visitor very soon. We are all crossing our fingers that the local bees will live with us.

Although creating the trap is quite a challenge in the beginning, we quickly learned and able to produce as targeted. I will share with you in detail about the making of it in one of my post in future. For your information, because our love for nature, we use recycled wood in this project.

In this first step, I cannot hesitate to mention the fun and joy in doing it, the host family and friends worked together and certainly with a little celebration at the end. We gathered around a campfire and chatted till late. We are definitely cannot wait for the next step and we hope you feel the same way too..cheers!
